Greatest American Dog Season Finale Party
-Candy’s handsome father @ PopBytes.com

September 10, 2008

hey hey! tonight was the season finale of greatest american dog over on CBS (i hope it comes back for a second season - for a dog lover it was a great show) i’ve been watching the competition faithfully and in the end cutie pie travis and his boxer dog presley (pictured below) took the title along with a $250,000 cash reward (although i did really like runner-up laurie and her little maltese andrew) i had the pleasure to head downtown earlier this evening with my dog candy to a party held at pussy and pooch (the hottest pet spot in downtown los angeles) to celebrate the finale and winners travis & presley! although i did have a lot of fun my dog was more nervous than i had ever seen her (at one point a news van opened and she wanted to jump inside…she was totally looking for a quick escape by any means) but thankfully before i had to take off i got to snap a few pictures - including one with ms. candy (looking like a nervous wreck) and preston (hands down the cutest dog on the show - we have matching mohawks) and his very lovely owner laura (who is totally gorgeous in person - she needs to get with travis…they’d make a stunning couple!) many thanks go out to popbytes’ pals shannon and karen for helping a blog out tonight - you both rock! popbytes over & out for tonight…xoxo

STAFFORD — Memo to political promoters in this election season: If you want to draw a big crowd, go to the dogs. That did the trick last Sunday for Laurie Williams, owner of Pup ‘N Iron Fitness and Learning Center off U.S. 1 in central Stafford. A reception she sponsored there that afternoon for fellow contestants in CBS’s weekly “Greatest American Dog” reality show drew hundreds of dogs and their companions to see the TV stars..

DOZENS of paw-parazzi descended on Stafford County yesterday, eager to capture three of this season’s stars of what some local viewers called a doggone good family show.

Andrew reveled in the high-pitched screams.

Leroy twisted off his necktie to bask in the spotlight.

And Preston paraded through the crowd, charming onlookers as only a true Casanova can.

Last night, on  Greatest American Dog, we FINALLY said goodbye to Beth Joy and Bella Starlet. In my mind, they should have gone a long time ago!  At the beginning of the show we see Beth Joy thanking Travis for throwing hottie Laura under the bus.

Travis saw the need to defend Beth Joy’s “love” of Bella StarletBella Starlet showed her gratitude in a different way — by snapping at, and almost biting Travis.  Karma Mr. T!!

What a face. There is such a gentleness in Poms that people who don’t spend time around them don’t get to see. They are happy little lovers and after the excitement of meeting someone new settles down they become sweet snuggly little babies. Meet Preston. If you haven’t been watching the CBS show Greatest American Dog then I have to spoil this… he didn’t win. Don’t fret though you haven’t missed him. Fortunately if your internet connection is fast enough you can enjoy all the episodes so far on the CBS site!

I truly enjoyed how Laura was able to show the world that Pomeranians aren’t yappy little air heads. They are attentive, devoted and bond so intensely to their owner that you become their world. So many times I just sat there and smiled as Preston fell asleep in Laura’s arms or on her knees. Her calm demeanor really transfers to him and people need to be aware of it. They are a great example. So many people don’t realize that their excited, worried, or hyper attitudes are what make their dogs hard to handle, destructive and annoying to others. There is more than one way people and their dogs resemble one another. lol

So thank you to Laura and Preston for representing the breed well.

Episode 6- Laura’s riding her own horse!

I call it “He Ain’t Heavy” — Greatest American Dog!

I will explain the title in just a second, but I am sooo sad that Laura and Preston were booted tonight!  I think Wendy Diamond wanted her off because she was jealous that they were cuter and got more attention.  I am not even going to start on Wendy…I am trying to be nice these days :-).

Okay so back to the title.  The challenge was to do a painting with your dog that represented your relationship.  For one, I find that to be a crazy challenge.  Dogs were not meant to paint.  And if the judges have such a problem with the dogs wearing clothes, why do they not mind strapping sponges and rollers  to the dog and covering them in paint (although it was completely safe)?  Well, some were good and some were sloppy and our favorite team was ousted.  Whatever…that dog is hilarious and way too cute for the show.  So is his mom.  We wish them the best and invite them to come chat with us anytime!

So Beth Joy and Bella Starlet remain.  Thanks in part to Travis.  While I get that he is a good guy, I think we all wanted him to ride off into the sunset with Laura.  If I was Laura I would ride my own horse.  He didn’t back her at all and actually came to the defense of Beth Joy.  I could give you more details, but why not watch it yourself.  You can view it here.  Maybe he can redeem himself in her eyes…I guess only time and tabloids will tell!
